Last week-end I went to Tucson and listened to Tim Tyson share is vision of schools of the future. One thing I learned is that change is not easy, even for the visionaries. Change can happen faster if we can put technology in the hands of the kids. Problem how do we do that? How do we give up control of the classroom?
One idea Tim has was to teach kids to make movies and just let them play. Later you can teach them the process of planning their work and making a point. Start with short videos, 2 minutes max and make it a contest.
This process takes a long time. Perhaps the whole year. Once the kids were trained, they helped their teachers.
What suggestions do you have for educators today that will help make learning more meaningful and exciting for todays students? Post your idea or suggestion(s) here.

Being a future educator I think the best way to teach is to find out how the student will best learn. I think it is best to make it personal for them; bring them into that atmosphere.

Greetings!
I beleive to make learning more meaningful and exciting to kids, you should make learning interactive and must correlate how and a good education relates to better quality of life.
I think the idea of being more interactive is where the world of education seems to be going. It seems as though There are a lot of subject areas students need to learn these days. No longer are the times when you are skilled tradesmen in one specific area, instead, you must know many. The one common ground that will only continue to become more and more apparent, is technology. Teaching thouroughly and efficiently is very important.
Interaction is the best way to make learning exciting and meaningful. I always tried harder when we had "hands on" projects and tried very little when concepts (Math) were being shoved down my head.
