I have not found blogs to be very useful to me in my career. It seems like just an online journal. Perhaps teachers could use a blog to replace a weekly newsletter for parents if the district does not block the site. I have also learned that when we learn to use a tool for our personal benefit, we are more likely to find a way to use it in the work place. (calculators, digital cameras, memory sticks, and jump drives etc.)
However wiki's seem to be more useful to me. They can be used for collaboration in writing grants or planning curriculum.

I believe that blogs and wiki's could be a useful educational tool in today's world, you just have to be careful who you are getting your information from. The problem with both of these is that pretty much anyone can post whatever they want, and we have to be careful what information we take as correct.
Blogs and wiki's are definitely useful educational tools. I think they both give teachers a great way to connect with their students outside of the classroom as well as provide technological resources to students.

Blogs are definitely a new concept to me as well. It took me a little while to get it, and I consider myself pretty internet and computer savy - but this was a first for me. So thank you Ms. Lott for teaching me. In any case I think that they can be a useful tool within th educational field in many ways. Students can access informaton when ever and where ever. The only downside to it is that the information listed may not be correct.
One thing that I have used and enjoyed during times of research on particular subjects is in finding a variety of perspectives.
While gathering information from resources, most that we come upon are edited and monitored information. Blogs however can be from more personal and uncessored writing that can give a more internal perspective.
