I thought it would be very helpful to have a few optional classes where a teacher would be available in person while I worked on my tasks. There were several times I hit a road block and felt very lost.
Also, the discussions that required replies was hard, because if you are the first person, you have to keep checking back to reply.

What did you find most valuable about the course?
It really helped to map our our new SS unit and plan out activities to match the new standards.
How will the training you received affect your teaching practices?
This training will help me to incorporate technology, projects and 21st century skills in my classroom.
Of everything you learned, what do you think will have the biggest impact on student learning?
I think that using project based learning methods will have the biggest impact on my students learning. Also, I was able to create several activities and rubrics so my students know exactly what is expected of them.
It was good for me to create a power point lesson for my class. The class forced me to spend the time on getting all of the details and higher thinking into my lesson. This is an area I am not strong in but would like to add to my classroom and now have given myself that growth opportunity. I will be able to ask the students to do what I have already done. The work on the power point and blog will be a great help to me in my classroom.

# What did you find most valuable about the course?
Creating our unit was the most
valuable part of this course. The format of the course helped to provide a framework for the development of our unit. I am so excited to have an entire unit that is stored on my computer rather than in my file cabinet.
# How will the training you received affect your teaching practices?
I would like to begin to convert my current teaching files to computer files so that I can eliminate a lot of the clutter in my classroom. In addition, I would like to implement more technology in my everyday lessons.
# Of everything you learned, what do you think will have the biggest impact on student learning?
I think that the incorporation of technology into my lessons will have the biggest impact on my students. By incorporating more technology my students will be more prepared for the future as well as more involved in what is going on.
Course comments: One thing that I think would help is having a set time that the instructors will log into the course to answer questions and concerns. A time when I know I can find them, as I had a really hard time getting responses back from email. I think the course length was adequate - but I have done tons of online courses through ASSET. Having everything within the course website would be beneficial too - so we don't have to jump from class, to wiki, to blog, etc. It would be nice to have everything in one location. The training for this class will help me be better prepared with my technology unit as we had to sit down and create assessments, projects, etc. I created a unit that I could use in teaching this summer. The main thing I learned that will help students is to provide worksheets or rubrics to guide the students in the overall outcome. If they know where we are heading, then we'll be able to accomplish the goal.
Yes, this class was time-consuming - but it was a 45 hour class. That's 3 college credits. I feel the work was adequate in completing the project and tasks asked.
One suggestion...when you provide a calendar with dates that different lessons will be open, it would be helpful to make sure they are open on those dates. It was frustrating to sit down and try to complete assignments only to find out the pages hadn't been posted yet. In fact, the last 3 discussion boards never opened until February 29th and they were suppose to be open like a week before that. Some of us plan our schedules and depend on those dates....please either open the entire class at once - or keep to your schedule. Thanks! =) Kristin
After taking the Intel Essentials class, I am overwhelmed, but glad that I am finished or close to finished. I think that it would be great to have this class include time off like summer break, spring break, October break, winter break. By allowing the class to encompass some break time, it would allow us more time to work on the project. I really liked using the Wiki. I think that having everything in the Wiki or blog was easy to use. Uploading files in the Wiki was easy and seemed easy to organize. I think the information in the class is very beneficial.
Of everything that I learned I think the biggest impact on student learning would be to try and make my classroom more student run, like the course discussed. I do in some ways do this now, but want to try to do more student run activities.
Most Valuable - I greatly appreciated the information that I learned about different resources that are available. I might not ever use a blog or wiki in my classroom, but I now know what they are, and how to use them.
Teaching Practices - More than anything, I am encouraged to try and incorporate more technology into my classroom. I am also hoping to plan more projects.
Impact on Students - I think we all tend to learn more genuinely when we do the investigation and work ourselves. By planning more projects, I will create an environment in which my students become more accountable for their learning.
Course Ideas - If you teach this during the school year, I would recommend that it be a little longer. Six weeks, at the same time that you are teaching everyday, is not enough to complete the work necessary for a 45 hour course. During the summer, six weeks would be perfect.

I forgot to answer the questions...It was valuable for me to be forced to experience other parts of the internet to learn about them. Also to learn a new process to plan a project. In the future, I will definitely put together student samples of what I want in order to create my criteria. I think the biggest impact on student learning will be the fact that they are creating something meaningful instead of just spitting out facts.
The other thoughts and ideas are on the other comment.

I found most valuable was the unit plan.I also liked the use of the wiki. This training will help me to get information out to my parents and students a lot easier.I think the use of blogs and wiki will have the biggest impact on my students.
